What is speculative evolution?

speculative evolution is a thought experiment where you imagine alternate evolutionary paths, future evolutions, alien life, etc., usually in line with our understanding of evolution. i like to do it because 1) i like imagining things, and 2) i'm autisitc and love evolutionary biology and cladistics.
